Across almost all industries, the average failure rate is 10% in the 1st year, 18% in the 2nd year, 45% in the 3rd year, and 70% to 90% in the 5th year. Exploding Topics (n.d) reports that first-time startup founders have a failure rate of 82%. According Exploding Topics, 34% of small businesses that fail lack the proper product-market fit while 22% fail due to lack of sound marketing strategy. In countries with staggering economies like Malawi, the failure rate is even higher due to excessive external conditions. We come in with our expertise and experience in entrepreneurship and business management to support entrepreneurs and startups to walk through these difficult stages of business startups. In the past few decades, countries including Malawi have failed to meet the food and livelihood needs of the population due to dwindling agricultural produce. Farmers particularly smallholder farmers have consistently failed to produce enough food and cash crops due to factors such as climate change, decaying soil quality for farming, pests and diseases, lack of knowledge of best farming practices and lack of timely access to quality farm inputs whose prices have skyrocketed. We provide a range of agribusiness and agricultural development support services to enable farmers become productive and reclaim the lost glory. There is a general consensus that science, technology and innovation are at the heart of development, and that investment in this sphere is critical to ensuring long-term growth (AUDA, 2020). According to AUDA (2020), innovation activities in Africa such as strengthening the capacity of survey teams at national level, back-stopping research, monitoring development and innovation surveys in a total of 43 countries, supporting the analyses of survey data and the publication of the African Innovation Outlook have been carried out since 2007. These activities are designed to support the achievement of the ambitious Agenda 2063, a 50-year vision of the aspirations of the idea of the “Africa We Want” in 2063. However, 12 years down the line, many African Countries including Malawi are still not actively engaging in innovation. The African Innovation Outlook Report 3 (2019) indicates that Malawi is not among the 43 African Countries investing in innovation. We come in to support the growth of innovations and innovation hubs in Malawi which we believe will enhance entrepreneurship, research and service delivery including health, education, finance and security. Human life depends on many variables including good health; access to adequate, safe and nutritious food, agricultural practices, economic and livelihood activities, development opportunities including formal education and informal skills development opportunities and many more. Many of the products, services and programs designed to serve the people don’t actually meet the needs of the people due to various factors including poor operational and management standards and lack of detailed research to inform the design of the program, product or service. According to Brunel University of London research helps in replacing assumptions with design insights as the basis for decision making, it helps in rationalizing decision-making process and it also gives rigor to approaches one chooses to use, it helps program or product designers to think about all possible context, and it helps in understanding behaviour including systems behavior, social, technical, environmental, political and economical behavior as well. Additionally, the world is faced with multiple emerging challenges including new breeds of pastes in the agriculture sector that are resistant to pesticides, global technological advancements and climate change all of which require research to develop in-depth understanding and identify practical and effective solutions. We offer research and research related services such as baseline assessments, midline and endline evaluations, and impact assessments to help answer pertinent questions to local, national and global challenges.
