Background
Founded in 2021, Growth Pillar was established to support low-income families improve household nutrition by diversifying household production of nutritional food stuffs and improving food preparation and storage and improving household hygiene practices. After engaging with the target communities for a year, Growth Pillar deepened its understanding of community issues that affect community food and nutrition including poor access due to poor agriculture productivity, climate change impacts impacting agriculture, limited economic and livelihood opportunities that support both agriculture and health food choices, limited research to provide answers to many questions, and more.

Growth Pillar is a Limited Liability Company registered with the Registrar of Companies in Malawi under the Companies Act No. 13 of 2013.
Growth Journey
These lessons enabled Growth Pillar to establish its first 5-years strategic plan in 2022 which saw an expansion in focus areas to include research, innovation and development; entrepreneurship and business management, agribusiness and agricultural development and health, social and wellness. This also led to the formation of 4 specialist units to ensure relevant expertise is established and maintained in all relevant sectors. Since then, Growth Pillar has been providing technical assistance in these areas to clients including Lusubilo Community Care, Secondary and Primary Schools, District Youth Offices, Extra-Think Innovations, Nkhotakota Steadfast Cooperation Limited and more. Furthermore, Growth Pillar has established a specialized market that support farmers particularly smallholder farmers to easily access farm inputs and market their farm produce.
Achievements and Awards
In 2023, Growth Pillar received the Commonwealth Youth Council Award for its impact on agribusiness and agricultural development supporting and empowering over 2000 smallholder farmers. In 2024, Growth Pillar received the Pan-African Awards for Entrepreneurship in Education by Teach a Man to Fish for its innovative entrepreneurship training program for youth.
